How to create a YouTube subscribe link

A YouTube subscribe link starts with the URL you already use for your channel. The difference is a small confirmation parameter added to the end. The generator above handles that formatting automatically.

1. Copy your channel URL or @handle

Go to your YouTube channel and copy the channel URL, or enter the @handle associated with the channel.

2. Generate the subscription link

Paste it into the tool. We'll clean the URL where needed and add the sub_confirmation=1 parameter.

3. Copy, test, and share it

Open the generated link yourself before publishing it. Then add it wherever people who already enjoy your content are most likely to see the invitation to subscribe.

What is a YouTube subscribe link?

A YouTube subscribe link is a channel URL with the sub_confirmation=1 parameter added to it. A normal channel URL might look like https://www.youtube.com/@yourchannel. A subscribe link looks like https://www.youtube.com/@yourchannel?sub_confirmation=1. When YouTube honors the parameter, the visitor is taken to the channel with a subscription confirmation step rather than simply being left on the channel homepage.

The phrase "auto subscribe link" can be confusing. The visitor is not secretly or automatically subscribed. "Auto" refers to bringing the subscription prompt into the flow. The visitor still decides whether to subscribe. Behavior can vary between browsers, mobile devices, and different versions of the YouTube app, so always test your finished link on the devices your audience commonly uses.

Which YouTube channel URLs can I use?

YouTube channels have used several URL formats over the years. You do not need to convert everything manually before using this tool.

@handle URLs

youtube.com/@yourchannel

The current format most creators will recognize and usually the simplest URL to share.

Channel ID URLs

youtube.com/channel/UCxxxxxxxx

Use the channel's unique YouTube ID and continue to identify the channel even if its handle changes.

Legacy custom URLs

youtube.com/c/ChannelName

YouTube no longer creates new custom URLs in this format, but existing ones can still redirect to the channel.

Legacy username URLs

youtube.com/user/ChannelName

Older channels may still have username-based URLs. The generator accepts them if they point to the channel.

If you have an @handle available, that is usually the cleanest option for something you're sharing publicly today.

Standard channel link vs. subscribe link

Standard channel link Subscribe link
Example: youtube.com/@yourchannel Example: youtube.com/@yourchannel?sub_confirmation=1
What happens: the visitor lands on the channel. What happens: YouTube can place the visitor directly into the subscription confirmation flow.
Best use: when you want someone to browse videos, Shorts, playlists, or channel information before deciding what to do. Best use: when someone already knows the channel and your CTA specifically asks them to subscribe.

Use the URL that matches the goal. If the CTA says "See our YouTube channel," use the channel link. If the CTA says "Subscribe for our next video," the subscribe link is the more direct option.

Where to use your YouTube subscribe link

Video descriptions

If someone reaches the bottom of a description after watching your content, give them a clear next step to subscribe.

Pinned comments

Works well when the subscription request is connected to what the viewer just watched.

Email newsletters

If you announce new videos by email, add a subscribe CTA for readers who watch regularly but have not subscribed yet.

Your website

Include the link on resource pages, author profiles, video libraries, blog posts, and other pages where your YouTube content is already part of the experience.

Social media profiles

Send audiences from X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, or other channels directly to your subscription flow.

Courses, webinars, and downloads

If someone has already learned from you, a subscription invitation can be a natural way to continue the relationship.

How to get more subscribers without chasing vanity metrics

A shorter path to the Subscribe button helps, but the link itself is not a growth strategy. People subscribe because they expect the next video to be worth watching.

Tell people what comes next

"Subscribe to our channel" says what to do. "Subscribe for one practical marketing system every week" says why to do it.

Ask after you've earned attention

A subscription request has more context after someone has watched a useful video, downloaded something, or learned something from you.

Stay consistent enough to be remembered

You do not need to publish every day. You do need enough consistency that subscribers understand what they signed up to receive.

Connect YouTube to the rest of your marketing

Give interested viewers a path to your website, email list, resources, offers, and other ways to continue the relationship.

Turn YouTube attention into something you own

A viewer watches. They visit your website. They download something useful. Your CRM records the lead. Your email follow-up keeps the conversation going. The right person eventually books, buys, or reaches out. That is the system behind the channel.
